On 15 September, government agents arrested a pedophile, who has been in the list of wanted criminals by the international police (Interpol), in the coastal town of Opol in Misamis Oriental, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Angelito Magno, the NBI regional director in Northern Mindanao, identified the suspect as Jouke Mulder, 67, of The Netherlands. Magno said that the Interpol tipped off the NBI last July of Mulder’s presence in the Philippines, particularly in the town of Opol, about 26 kilometers west of this city. The Interpol informed the NBI that Mulder absconded from The Netherlands after serving term for human trafficking, child abuse, involvement in illegal drugs, and illegal possession of firearms. Magno said that government agents, armed with a warrant of arrest, collared Mulder during an entrapment operation last Saturday at his rented house in Opol. Mulder has been staying in Opol since 2012. The Department of Social Welfare and Development personnel rescued two naked minors from Mulder a day before the entrapment operation.
