Three men were injured in a fire onboard an Indonesia-flagged cargo vessel while docking at a shipyard in Surabaya, Indonesia.

The 5,276 dwt, 2005-bulit Mentari Pratama, owned by Mentari Sejati Perkasa PT, had one of its gas cylinders exploded during welding work on Saturday.
The three men were burnt while trying to extinguish the blaze and immediately sent to a hospital in Tanjung Perak.

Four teams of fire fighters arrived at the scene and put out the fire after an hour. The cargo – 28 containers – onboard the vessel was undamaged.

Mentari Sejati Perkasa PT told IHS Maritime over a phone conversation today that the men are still recovering from burns in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the damaged cylinder had been cleaned up and the ship is under repairs following the fire. Indonesian police are currently investigating the incident.
