LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Provincial Board here has approved a resolution favorably endorsing a bill that seeks to establish a marine eco-tourism park in this town to safeguard the beauty of the Lingayen Gulf. “House Bill No. 1020, authored by Congressman Leopoldo Bataol, aims to protect the Lingayen Gulf from indiscriminate exploitation and to maintain its ecological balance and preserve the waters surrounding the area,”Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. said in a resolution. Calimlim stated that when the bill was implemented, it will complement the Provincial Government’s efforts of safeguarding the beauty of the Lingayen Gulf for the present and future generations to inherit, and in ensuring the continued survival of its rich marine life in order to sustain the livelihood of coastal people. He added the establishment of the Lingayen Gulf Marine Eco-Tourism Park is perceived to have an overall effect on the sustainable tourism, employment, and business industry in the province as well as to gain the support of the local populace of Lingayen and its neighboring municipalities.
