Mar 9: Container ship OLYMPIA was disabled, adrift after reportedly, collision, in South China sea off Phu Yen Province coast, central Vietnam. The ship seemed to be under way at 5 knots speed in vicinity 13 08N 110 50E as of 0800 UTC Mar 9, proceeding by changing courses. Collision understood to take place at around 0200 UTC Mar 9. The ship is en route from Shanghai to Sihanoukville Cambodia, ETA Mar 10. She might be seriously damaged, changing courses and proceeding at slow speed, in order to cope with collision consequences. Her adversary’s ID unknown so far, no other ships spotted in the vicinity.

Mar 10 UPDATE: After looping back and forth in collision area, sailed to Vietnam, arrived at Nha Trang city waters, southern Vietnam, at around noon local time Mar 10, looking like she’s about to anchor as of 0700 UTC Mar 10. Probably collided with Vietnamese fishing boat, rescued fishermen and sailed to Vietnam to disembark them and undergo all formalities including investigation – it’s just an assumption, there are no updates and add info available yet.

Mar 11 UPDATE: Confirmed my analysis was correct – OLYMPIA collided with Vietnamese fishing vessel TB 96666 TS, rescued 7 out of 9 fishermen on board, and carried out SAR, until relieved and ordered to sail to Nha Trang. OLYMPIA most likely, suffer slight damages, if any.
