The general cargo ship Mustafa Kan sank in Mediterranean Sea on 25 nautical miles southeast off Syracuse, Sicily. The vessel was en route from Dakar, Senegal to Sibenik, Croatia, loaded with fertilizer ammonium phosphate, but started getting water ingress and sinking near the Italian coast. The 16 crew sent distress signal to local authorities and abandoned the vessel into a life boat. Later the seamen were rescued by Italian Coast Guard without reported injuries. Later, the general cargo ship Mustafa Kan lost stability and sank. There were no injured people during the accident and no oil leak.
