On or about 17 0230H March 16, initial information from Coast Guard District Palawan disclosed that LCT Marc Jason 2, a cargo vessel owned and operated by Jomalia Shipping Corp, with 12 crews on board went half submerged while anchored at the vicinity pier of Berong, Palawan. The Captain decided to anchor after loading Nickel ore because of the bad weather. While anchored, the ship’s cargo access door was hit by big waves causing flooding inside. The ship eventually sank and presently half submerged. PCG personnel from Brookspoint are monitoring the incident and already laid oil spill boom around the vessel.
