As part of its relentless campaign against illegal fishing, seven fishing boats were seized, while its crewmen were penalized in Concepcion town by the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force. The local fishermen onboard fishing boats “Jeush Meg, Je-an, John Rose, Baby TJ Boy, Charmine, Roldan and Rowald” were apprehended for not having permits and for using trawl within the municipal waters. The owners identified as Megnan Depalobos, Raden Suan, Rosalie Bernas, Joshua Artibel, Jimmy Flaviano, Roldan Demante and Jorge Tingson incurred a penalty of P22,500. They were caught during the task force’s seaborne patrol operation in Barangay Bagongon, Concepcion from January 13-22, according to a report from Police Officer 3 Charlie Asturias. The fishing boats were in the custody of the task force for safekeeping, while the crew was detained in lock-up cell of Concepcion Municipal Police Station. The boats and its crew will only be released if the owners pay the compromise fine.
