Some 1,276 board feet of illegal lumber was seized in Baler town in Aurora on Sunday, the Philippine Coast Guard said late Monday. A team with representatives from the Coast Guard and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office seized the lumber from two motor boats.
The Coast Guard said the motorboats were loaded with 56 pieces (843 board feet) of lawaan and bagtikan, and 19 pieces (433 board feet) of tangile.
It said the first motor banca skippered by Ricardo Bibon had a 4DR engine (engine number 8307), while the second motor banca, with two engines and colored white and blue, was abandoned.
Both vessels are in the custody of the Coast Guard Baler substation.
