Authorities have rescued 11 fishermen on board a commercial fishing boat that capsized off the waters of Tictabon Island and Mampang in Zamboanga City on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
A report from the PCG Station Zamboanga said they received a phone call from a resident of Mampang informing them about the capsizing of F/B JAYA-1 with 11 fishermen onboard, including the boat captain.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group initially rescued two of the 11 fishermen, according to PCG.
At around 10:20 p.m., PCG Zamboanga deployed a team which rescued four other fishermen.
An hour later, a Coast Guard floating asset carrying another PCG search and rescue (SAR) team departed Zamboanga City to provide further assistance.
They rescued another five fishermen on top of the floating capsized fishing boat approximately 2.5 nautical miles from the shoreline of Mariki Island in Zamboanga.
A Philippine Navy fleet towed the capsized fishing boat to the nearest shoreline and declared all rescued fishermen were safe and in good physical condition.
